Paul prayed that Christians would know and understand the magnitude of God’s love. Few people ever really comprehend how much God loves them. One of the central themes of the Bible is God’s love for man.
Ephesians 3:17-18 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height — 19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. NKJV
When you look at these four phrases – “know the height, the depth, the length and the width of God’s love” – you have the four dimensions of the cross, “height, depth, width, and length.” You can’t really talk about the love of God without talking about the cross because the ultimate demonstration of love is when someone gives their life for you. “Greater love hath no man than this than a man lay down his life for his friends.”
Jeremiah 31:3 “The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness.” – NIV
Psalm 89:2 – “I will declare that your love stands firm forever, that you established your faithfulness in heaven itself.” – NIV
That is so different from our kind of love.
Human love can wear out. That’s why we have a lot of divorces. It wears out. I know a lot of people who are not divorced but they don’t love each other any more. Their love is limited. It dries up. That’s why you have to have God’s love in your marriage if it’s going to last. I don’t know how marriages last without God’s love in them.
But God’s love never wears out. God’s love is patient, persistent, persevering. God never gives up on you? No matter what you do His love never gives up. God will never love you any more than He does right now. He also will never love you any less than He does right now. He loves you on your good days and on your bad days.
God’s love is not conditioned by your response. God is love is unearned, undeserved. All you have to do is just receive it!
Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. – NIV
Psalm 145:17 The LORD is righteous in all his ways and loving toward all he has made. – NIV
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. - NIV
The good news is that God loves me. The bad news is that He loves my enemies just as much. Jesus loved the unlovely and that’s what got him in trouble with the religious fanatics.
Everybody you meet this week — God loves them. And He loves them unconditionally. God never made a person that He didn’t love. He loves you. He loves you very, very much. You matter to God. Many times we think God only loves us when we’re carrying out our religious duties. We assume that the more religious we act, the more God loves us. God’s Word teaches just the opposite.
God’s greatest demonstration of love was not in response to our righteousness. Rather, it was in response to our rebellion.
1 John 3:1 How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him -. NIV
Romans 8:35-39 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.- NIV
Romans 8:39 “Neither height not depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
There is no place that you can go where God’s love isn’t. You’ll never be separated from God’s love. Nothing, no circumstance, no situation can separate you because God’s love is everywhere. The antidote for our loneliness is God’s amazing love. You will never be separated from God’s love.
Psalm 40:11 Do not withhold your mercy from me, O LORD; may your love and your truth always protect me. NIV
When you feel like you’re going under for the last time or when you’re about sink! The fact is God’s love is not shallow. It’s profound. No matter what problem you have, His love is deeper than that problem.
Some of you are in deep despair, deep trouble, under deep stress, you’ve got deep problems, emotional problems, physical problems, financial problems. God’s love is deeper still.
Some of you in the last few weeks and the last few months have hit bottom. Maybe financially and you think, “I am going broke!” or you’ve hit bottom emotionally or your marriage has hit bottom or you’re having health problems and your health has hit bottom and you’re frustrated and you think, “I am going under.”
WHERE IS GOD WHEN YOU HIT BOTTOM?
Deuteronomy 33:27 The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. He will drive out your enemy before you, saying, ‘Destroy him!’ NIV
When you hit bottom, guess who’s underneath the bottom? God is, dropping His arms to you in love. Let Him catch you and support you when you have no where else to go.
CHRIST DIED FOR US! THAT IS THE ULTIMATE DEMONSTRATION OF LOVE. It is easy to feel like God loves us when everything is going right. When the times of good, when we walking in health and peace, but what about in times of lack, persecution, and doubt? What about the tough times? During tough times, many of us wrongly feel that we are separated from God’s love. We must settle once and for all that God loves us. The proof of his great love is not to be found in out present circumstances, but in what he did on the cross for us 2,000 years ago.
With All My Heart,
Pastor Sam
Pastor Sam-TGP, I miss you my Pastor mi hermano, my friend!
I am still in St. Croix and your family here (Pastor Ramirez) send their blessings. Pastor, I thank you for all the teachings this year, especially, God’s love! I came home because of that love. Thinking I was responding to a family in need of love and support, I was obedient to God and I came, Pastor, so many here need God’s love. I have been busy with people who have lost their mom (parent) and are feeling so guilty but Praise the Lord we are able to share the love of God, His Word and release them from this pain and guilt and into His mighty loving hands. The youth are somewhat needing leadership, the ministry is tired, it’s been a hard year in the islands. My heart was broken for my friends to see them in such pain. Praise the Lord for the teachings, for Jesus, for TGP, I am equiped and I didnt think I was. I find myself loving everybody and now it seems I am being put to more work, amen we have work to do. God sends Hope and we share, I share God’s love as given to me freely. We meet, we love and we testify we give Hope, Jesus. God has not released a date for my return, I miss home, miss my church but I am obidient and love God and my brothers and sisters here who are now laughing and singing and rejoicing….God’s love for us all.
In His Mighty Hands of love, prosperity, and health
Lisa Quiñones
PS-
This was put very nicely. Thanks for sharing God’s love in a new way and view. I never looked at it in a dimensional way which reflects back to the cross. Love the picture you painted.
